The Minnesota Vikings told running back Dalvin Cook they plan to release him on Friday, according to sources. The buzz around NFL insiders has the Miami Dolphins as a team that could be interested.
And why not? Cook has logged four straight 1,000-yard seasons and gets targeted in the passing around 55 times per season. He's a threat in many facets of the offense. But Mike Florio cautioned Dolphins fans to temper their expectations when he spoke on The Joe Rose Show Friday.

"I can understand why the Dolphins would be interested, but you have so many great players down there," Florio said. "Who's the odd man out if you bring in Dalvin Cook? Does Dalvin Cook get anywhere near the touches he's accustomed to getting in a Miami offense that has Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle and Raheem Mostert."
Andn ot only could there be a fit problem with Cook and the Dolphins, Florio states Miami might not be in a position to offer Cook the kind contract he's going to want.
"I'm not sure that's the best place for him anyway," said Florio. "I just think that the fact that so many resources have been devoted to those other positions, that's going to limit the amount of money the Dolphins would allocated to a Dalvin Cook. There's going to be someone else that naturally has more money to put into it because they're going to have a greater need and a better plan for using him."
