The Miami Dolphins have found their new head coach as they officially announced the hiring of Mike McDaniel.
McDaniel had been with the 49ers since 2017 and spent the past season as their offensive coordinator. No reporter in the NFL knows McDaniel better than our friend Jeff Darlington.
For people asking if this is going to work, how will this Ivy League Yale educated guy come across in Miami, Darlington has no doubts.
"It will work perfectly," Darlington said. "He's going to resonate in that locker room and in this community in a way that I don't really think we've seen in a very long time."
Darlington also believes McDaniel knows what he has in Tua Tagovailoa and will bring things from the young quarterback's skill set to the forefront.
"When it comes to Tua," Darlington started, "[McDaniel] was some of the brains behind RGIII back in Washington. He's been the brains behind a lot of different guys who have been somewhat unconventional, and I think coming into this situation he was saying 'Everything is in place including Tua to maximize potential and find out what we have."
JD stopped by The Joe Rose Show on Tuesday morning to tell us all about the new head coach. You can listen to the full conversation above to see why Jeff says the new hire will be a breath of fresh air.
