Former Ravens Center Matt Birk has won a Super Bowl but says it is more than just the game stating, “This is the biggest game of your life and you just want to focus on that but there are so many distractions.”

Veterans are key to a championship run according to Birk, “You got to have veterans letting everyone know that we are all about winning and let younger guys know that if we do not make the Super Bowl next year, you can go to the Super Bowl City and experience it.”

Birk played in the famous blackout Super Bowl where the lights went out during the game in New Orleans.  He explains, “We sat there, stretched and tried to stay in game mode.”

He says of their opponent The 49ers, “They did something different from us because after the blackout they were moving the ball everywhere.”

The Ravens did hold on to win, much thanks to their defense which prominently featured two guys from The University of Miami in Ray Lewis and Ed Reed.  When it comes to playing and winning with those guys, Birk says, “I was just lucky to be in the league but those two guys deserved a Super Bowl.”

The Super Bowl is Sunday at 6:30 ET between Cincinnati and Los Angeles Rams in L.A.
