The Miami Dolphins, with third-string quarterback Skylar Thompson, went into Buffalo and were on the brink of pulling off an improbable upset of the Bills.
And they might have done it if only they had managed the clock a little better.

The Dolphins were ultimately undone by their poor clock management late in the fourth quarter, with the most egregious mistake coming on a fourth-and-inches when they were flagged for a delay of game.
That pushed them back to a fourth-and-six, which they were unable to convert, essentially sealing the 34-31 victory for Buffalo.
The Dolphins were even still in the huddle with five seconds remaining on the play clock.
The poor clock management was a trend all game as the Dolphins did not have any timeouts remaining, either, due to running the play clock all the way down. In fact, they used their last timeout earlier in the drive to avoid a delay of game on a third-and-10 from their own 14-yard line.
While the team gave an admirable performance in a game they entered as 14-point underdogs, fans will surely be agonizing over the poor clock management all offseason.
On social media, fans were quick to voice their frustrations and mock the team for failing to utilize the clock properly
