Alvin Kamara lost his towel and got a flag back instead.
It was an odd moment early in the second quarter of the Saints' Monday Night Football showdown with the Dolphins, with a penalty coming in as the Saints prepared to punt the ball away.
That penalty was for unnecessary roughness, prompted by Kamara's shove of Dolphins defensive end Christian Wilkins. See the moment below.
The penalty wasn't too costly, but it meant Blake Gillikin's punt was sent off from the 26 instead of the 41. Kamara was led off the field by teammate Cam Jordan as the star RB continued to shout back toward the field, with the pair chirping for much of the first half. Kamara finished the first half with 17 yards rushing on 7 carries and 12 yards receiving on one reception.
The Saints didn't surrender a point the rest of the way, with a Brett Maher field goal trimming the margin to 10-3 with the Saints set to receive the second-half kickoff. It was a positive situation considering rookie Ian Book surrendered a pick-six on the second pass of his NFL career, a ball that appeared to be tipped at the line.
