The Philadelphia Eagles improved to 12-1 this weekend, in large part due to the play of quarterback Jalen Hurts, who has put himself into consideration for the MVP race.

But not everyone seems to think he belongs in that conversation.

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons questioned the MVP talk surrounding Hurts while appearing on Von Miller’s “The Voncast” on Tuesday.

“When you look at the Eagles, is it Hurts or the team?” Parsons asked.

Miller, on the other hand, was not taking the bait.

“I think it’s a little bit of both, man,” Miller said, which prompted Parsons to reply, “it’s system and team.”

Miller explained that Hurts does have great pieces around him in the offensive line, wide receivers A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith and a solid running game led by Miles Sanders.

Parson, whose Cowboys are set to play the Eagles on Christmas Eve, said he isn’t trying to start anything.

“I’m not trying to make no enemies,” he said. “I just love the game but when things are off I can’t hold it in, I just gotta say something.”

Hurts’ numbers are impressive this season, throwing for 22 touchdowns to three interceptions (the best ratio in the league), and has 10 rushing touchdowns on top of that. His 3,157 passing yards only rank 10th in the league and his 68% completion percentage is fourth but he also has an additional 686 rushing yards, averaging 4.9 yards per carry.

With the Eagles 12-1, Hurts certainly has a case to be made at the very least. But Parsons may also have a case of his own.

The Cowboys linebacker did not say it, but he could be an MVP candidate as well based on his performance this season.

Parsons impacts the game on the defensive end of the ball in a way few do, recording 12 sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown and 22 QB hits and 57 total tackles this season.

There’s still five weeks left in the season, and however it plays out one thing is for sure: the Eagles-Cowboys matchup on Christmas Eve will be quite an interesting one to watch when Parsons and Hurts go toe-to-toe.
