Pitt lands 7 on All-ACC Football Team

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Pitt had both of the starting first team defensive ends as the All-ACC Football Team was announced on Tuesday.

Seniors Patrick Jones and Rashad Weaver combined for 16.5 quarterback sacks, tied for first nationally by teammates.  They combined for 27.5 tackles for loss for 142 yards.


Joining them on the first team is another senior, but he only spent this season with Pitt.  Maryland transfer DJ Turner was named the first team kick returner, averaging 22.2 on kickoffs and 8.3 yards on punts.  Turner also caught 44 passes for 634 yards and three touchdowns.

Center Jimmy Morrissey was named All-ACC for a third consecutive year joined by safety Damar Hamlin and kicker Alex Kessman on the second team.  Kessman is the most accurate long-distance kicker in NCAA history, hitting on 12 of 18 from 50-plus yards for his career.

Sophomore linebacker SirVocea Dennis named to the third-team after finishing second in overall tackles with 57 and tied with Weaver for the team lead with 14.5 tackles for loss.

Freshman leading receiver Jordan Addison named Honorable Mention along with punter Kirk Christodoulou and senior guard Bryce Hargrove.

Notre Dame and Clemson each had 12 players on the first three teams, Panthers were tied at third with their seven.

Jones, Weaver, Turner on first team
