The Red Sox outfield - and infield - took a big step toward coming into shape with the agreeing to terms with one player: Adam Duvall.

According to a major league source, the Red Sox are bringing in the 34-year-old outfielder, potentially allowing Kiké Hernandez to slide back into the infield.

Jon Heyman was first to report of the agreement. Chris Henrique was first to surface the sides were very close.

Duvall is an above-average defender, winning a National League Gold Glove for right fielders in 2021. He is coming off a 2022 season that was cut short by a torn wrist tendon suffered on July 23, an injury that required surgery.

Before the ailment, Duvall was having a somewhat down year for the Braves offensively, hitting .213 with a .677 OPS and seven home runs in 315 plate appearances. The year before, however he led the National League with 113 RBI while blasting 38 homers.

While playing all three outfield positions with Atlanta in 2022, Duvall spent the majority of his time in center field, appearing in 44 of the 86 games played in the field.

While he has only played in four games at Fenway Park, the righty hitter launched three home runs in one of them, totaling four during a three-game series in Boston during the 2020 season.

Duvall was originally an 11th-round pick in the 2010 MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants.
