The Mets front office remains unsettled as the club is still on the hunt for a new general manager. Some of the names that have been thrown into the mix include Oakland A’s executive vice president Billy Beane, Milwaukee Brewers GM Matt Arnold, and most recently Red Sox assistant GM Raquel Ferreira. All of these candidates chose to pass on the position.

As MLB's annual general manager's meeting kicked off this week, club president Sandy Alderson spoke with reporters Tuesday to update everyone on the teams' inability to find a president of baseball operations or general manager. Alderson placed the blame, not on Steve Cohen, but rather on the expectations that come with playing under the bright lights of New York.
“Admittedly there’s a reluctance to come to New York, but I think it’s mostly about New York,” Alderson said Tuesday. “And not about Steve [Cohen] or the organization or what have you. It’s a big stage and some people would prefer to be elsewhere.”
Not exactly what fans wanted to hear, as many have blamed Cohen for the teams’ struggle to solidify their front office. Alderson indicated that the team is now focusing on hiring a general manager, rather than a president of baseball operations. Alderson also added that the organization talked to about ‘half of everyone in attendance at the GM’s meeting.
“In some cases, we haven’t gotten permission,” Alderson said. “In some cases, I think people are comfortable where they are. Whether it be a family situation or something professional.”
Free agency officially began Sunday -- despite questions surrounding the current Collective Bargaining Agreement which is set to expire on Dec. 1. This would obviously place any transaction made by MLB clubs on hold.
