Bruce Drennan, host of “Drennan Live” on Bally Sports Great Lakes (formerly known as Sportstime Ohio), was in no mood Thursday following the Indians’ season-opening loss to Detroit, a game played in less-than-ideal conditions with intermittent flurries affecting visibility at Comerica Park. When a fan called in to complain about Franmil Reyes, who killed a potential rally in the seventh by grounding into an inning-ending double play, Drennan came completely unhinged, unleashing on the caller with the wrath of 1,000 suns.

“You’re an idiot and you don’t know baseball!” Drennan fumed, steam rising from his ears. “You’re going to make a judgment on the season after one game in 30-degree weather? That proves what an ignoramus you are. Get off our show, fair-weather idiot!”

Drennan needed a second to compose himself after his tirade, taking a deep breath before moving on to the next caller.

“Didn’t even have the courtesy to call me by my name!” joked Drennan, doing his best to lighten the mood. “I got a few names I’d like to call him.”

While Drennan is right that it’s ridiculous to draw conclusions from one game, he probably could have found a gentler way to present that argument. Geez guy, eat a Snickers.
