To my knowledge, no MLB player has ever walked to the plate with their own song blaring throughout the stadium. Perhaps Yoan Moncada of the Chicago White Sox can change that.

Moncada has worked on over a dozen songs this offseason, according to MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez, and the first one to be released was the upbeat, jovial "Desastre Personal," recorded with the help of Cuban singers Lenier and El Chacal. It hasn't picked up all that much steam, with 6,631 listens on Spotify, but a new addition to the release could help to solve that problem.

A new walk-up song and a new walk-up video? Sounds like a recipe for success for the soon-to-be 26 year old, looking to build off his strong 2019 (.315/.367/.548) despite seeing his production take a dip in 2020 after a bout of coronavirus prior to the season (.225/.320/.385).

“It started out as a hobby, meaning I always loved to sing at home,” Moncada told Sanchez in Spanish. “But one day, I published a song on Instagram singing one of Lenier’s songs, a Cuban singer, and he responded to me! We talked about getting together for a song when I was in Miami, that opened the door for me. That’s how I got my first song.

“A lot of fans like the music. I’ve seen it on Instagram, Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube. They are having a good time with it. At first, I didn’t want to sing. I’m a baseball player, but I like music, too.”

It's no secret that Moncada is a great dancer, but now he's getting to show off his impressive skills to everyone who wasn't aware already.
