Trusted Spaces, Healthy Babies
Did you know?
Heart disease is the Number 1 killer of new moms in the U.S. and Black women face an even
greater risk.
Did you know?
Guilford County has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the state and 80 percent of brain
growth happens in a child’s first three years.

To help save moms and give babies their best start in life, the American Heart Association has
teamed up with Ready for School, Ready for Life, Every Baby Guilford, and March of Dimes to
provide valuable resources and information. Trusted Spaces, Healthy Babies is generously
funded by The Cemala Foundation.
Trusted Spaces, Healthy Babies is working with barbershops and beauty salons to share health
messages for moms-to-be and the dads that love them. Delivered through the trusted voices of
barbers and stylists, health and parenting resources are placed in participating salons and
barbershops for new and expecting mothers and fathers to access, including blood pressure
monitors, scales, book nooks, and more.
