The Connecticut State Department of Education’s Greater Hartford Regional School Choice Office (RSCO) hosts its last RSCO School Choice Fair for the 2026-27 school year Saturday 10am to 1pm at the Academy of Aerospace and Engineering, 1101 Kennedy Road, Windsor. This Fair is a fun and informative way to help families navigate the waitlist and late application process for Greater Hartford Region magnets, Open Choice and technical high schools. Representatives from RSCO, as well as schools and districts, will be available to answer questions about process and timelines, programs, transportation, athletics, extracurricular activities and more. This free, family-friendly event will include light snacks, activities and giveaways while supplies last. Watertown’s Board of Education Acting Superintendent Lisa Fekete is the guest for an open and informative community discussion this Saturday 10:30am in the Watertown Library’s atrium, 470 Main St., Watertown. Designed to help residents understand the upcoming school budget and where your tax dollars go, Ms. Fekete will walk us through the district’s budget, will explain key priorities and will also answer questions. The Veteran Fair & Open House on Saturday 11am to 2pm, providing critical resources for Connecticut’s veterans and raise support for the Higganum-Haddam VFW Post, which is currently at risk of closing. Originally planned for a different site, the event has been moved to a larger venue at Haddam Elementary School, 272 Saybrook Road, Higganum, to accommodate what is expected to be one of the state's largest veteran gatherings this year. Attendees can access vital information, expert advice, and support services from a wide range of national and local organizations.
