The Atlanta Board of Education has approved renaming a high school there to honor baseball's home run king Hank Aaron. Aaron passed away earlier this year, two weeks shy of his 87th birthday. Aaron broke Babe Ruth's home run record in 1974, and finished his career with 755 career dingers.
The board voted unanimously to waive the five year waiting period after someone's death, and to rename the Forrest Hill Academy to the Hank Aaron New Beginnings Academy. The school was previously named for Confederate General and Klan leader Nathan Bedford Forrest.
