The 31st Litchfield Jazz Festival is Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Frederick Gunn School in Washington. It swings into the weekend with its traditional Opening Night Gala with the Litchfield Jazz Camp Star Combos taking the stage. While the music flows, so do the hors d'oeuvres from Ciesco Catering, vintage French wines from Vandoren Vineyards, and cocktails from Litchfield Distillery. Following the Gala, guests are ushered to their reserved seats for the Opening Mainstage performance at 7:45pm by Don Braden & The Litchfield Jazz Fest Dectet. Saturday at 2pm it’s one of the most respected saxophonists of his generation, Jimmy Greene followed at 3:45pm by the Steve Davis Sextet. Capital Classics Theatre Company's 2026 Greater Hartford Shakespeare Festival present the dark comedy Measure for Measure performed in repertory with the magical A Midsummer Night's Dream. The alternating productions, which will each be performed ten times, is set to run through Sunday, August 2, 2026, outdoors on the campus of the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford.
