Commemorating the men and women who died while in military service, the City of New Haven Memorial Day ceremonies will be on Sunday. Elm City and regional residents are invited to attend the two traditional programs and wreath-laying ceremonies, rain or shine. At 1:00 p.m., there will be a ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park on Long Wharf Drive. Senior Chief Petty Officer James Hatch (Ret), author, educator, former Navy SEAL and founder of Spike’s K9 Fund, will be the principal speaker. At 3:00 p.m., there will be a second ceremony at the World War Memorial Flagpole on the New Haven Green. Lt.
Col. Joseph Danao (Ret), Deputy Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs, will be the principal speaker. New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker will offer remarks.
