It was a big night for the sibling duo at the 2024 Oscars where they took home the Best Original Song award for “What Was I Made For,” an emotional ballad they penned and performed for the Barbie movie. The win made them not only two-time Oscars winners, but record breakers as well.

The win marked a second Oscars victory for 22-year-old Billie and 26-year-old Finneas, who won Best Original Song for "No Time to Die,” from the James Bond movie of the same name in 2022. Last night’s victory not only made them two of a very small group to have multiple Oscars by age 30, but also the youngest winners to take home more than one Oscar and the first in 86 years to win the same category twice.

The Oscars aren’t the only awards the track has been recognized at— it also snagged Eilish and FINNEAS a win at the 2024 Golden Globes for Best Original Song and Song of the Year at the 2024 GRAMMYs. All three wins together make even more history as Eilish becomes the first woman to win an Oscar, GRAMMY and Golden Globe for film music twice. Additionally, the song is the first in 10 years to sweep both the GRAMMY for Song of the Year and the Oscar for Best Original Song.

“I’m grateful for this song and this movie and the way that it made me feel,” Eilish said during her acceptance speech where she and FINNEAS thanked director Greta Gerwig, their parents, and more. “This goes out to everyone that was affected by the movie and how incredible it is.”

The duo also took to the Oscars stage to perform the gut-wrenching ballad with a strings section and FINNEAS on piano. The impact of the lyrics and Eilish’s vulnerability were on full display as the performance pulled tears from the crowd.
