Connecticut is celebrating a big win on the world stage.
Fairfield native, Mac Forehand, just soared onto the Olympic podium, capturing a silver medal in men’s Big Air freestyle skiing.
Big Air is one of the most technical and high-risk events in freestyle skiing, with athletes speeding down a massive ramp, launching into the sky, executing complex tricks midair.
Forehand delivered—competing against the best freestyle skiers on the planet and finishing second in the world.
His silver medal marks the first Olympic medal for a Connecticut athlete at these Games.
A milestone not just for one competitor, but for all of Connecticut.
This achievement reflects the depth of talent and determination coming out of the state—and reminds us that big dreams can take flight, right here in Connecticut.

For the second year in a row, a Hartford coffee shop has won an international award!

Story and Soil Coffee has been named to The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops list, coming in at number 86. This is the second consecutive honor for the café on Capitol Avenue, which made the list last year at number 88.

According to the organization, each coffee shop has to meet certain criteria to be considered. They’re evaluated on quality of coffee, barista expertise, customer service, innovation, ambience and atmosphere, sustainability practices, food and pastry quality, and consistency.

In a social media post, Story and Soil owners said, “This is the result of years of support from our team, present and past, and coffee partners… Since receiving our first award last year, we have worked closely to build on 8 years of pushing quality and service standards. We love what we are able to accomplish at our little shop on Capitol Ave.”
