New annual census numbers are in and they’re pointing up! According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Connecticut continues to see steady population growth, with more people choosing to make it here.
That’s not a blip. That’s a trend.
What’s bringing people here? It’s opportunity, quality of life, and plenty to do.
Six different James Beard Award nominated chefs this year, cultural institutions everywhere you look, coastline, trails, skiing, basketball, arts, pizza (DUH)…you name it, we’ve got it.
Recent brand reputation research shows something else: where people thought years ago of Connecticut as a “small, expensive, and boring place,” they now see it as “Fun, cultural, and welcoming."
In other words, people aren’t just passing by anymore. They’re putting down
roots. Connecticut’s quality of life isn’t just a nice perk — it’s a real economic
advantage. And if the numbers are any indication, more people are catching on.
Valentine’s Day is Saturday, and hopefully you’ve made your dinner reservations by now! Did you know that Connecticut is home to two of the best restaurants for romance in the country?
OpenTable just published its list of the Top 100 Romantic Restaurants across the U.S., described as “certifiably swoon-worthy spots people choose when the night matters most.” J. Gilbert’s in Glastonbury and Millwright’s in Simsbury represented Connecticut among these top destinations for lovers.
J. Gilbert’s upscale steakhouse setting was recognized for its “cozy atmosphere” including “fireside dining, rich wood, brick, and soft lighting where you can enjoy dinner for two.” The menu offers wood-fired steaks, fresh seafood, and a decadent 24-layer chocolate cake for dessert.
Millwright’s has one of the most scenic views in Connecticut, located in the former Hop Brook Mill overlooking a rushing waterfall. Led by James Beard-nominated chef/owner Tyler Anderson, the New England-inspired menu is inspired by the freshest products from local farmers, fisherman, bakers, and other artisans.
Stay tuned for more updates next week!
