Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Saying there's still work to do, Governor Lamont kicked off his bid for a third term Friday by releasing a video on his campaign social media.

Lamont says he'll focus on health care, child care and energy costs.

Regarding the latter, state Senator Ryan Fazio, seeking the GOP nod, says electricity costs have already skyrocketed during Lamont's two terms in office.

Lamont, a 71-year-old Greenwich multimillionaire, is seeking to become the first person to serve three consecutive terms as governor.

Republican John Rowland was driven from office in the middle of his third term due to a corruption scandal.

There are several candidates who've already announced a run or who are thinking about a run.

Democratic state Representative Josh Elliott of Hamden presents a challenge to Lamont from within the party.

In addition to Fazio, former New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart appears to have her sights set on the Republican nomination.

Timothy Wilcox has filed paperwork for a possible run for the Republican nomination.
