HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Russian figure skaters Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, who once lived in Simsbury and coached locally in Connecticut, were aboard the American Airlines commercial plane that crashed into the Potomac River in Washington D.C., after a midair collision with an army helicopter.
Both Shishkova and Naumov were part of a national development team, a training program for top juvenile figure skaters.
The Kremlin says the couple was aboard the plane.
Authorities don't believe anyone survived the crash.
