(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)-State employee unions held a briefing today, calling for lawmakers to preserve funding and to remind the public about they crucial services they provide.
Speakers included a call center worker for the Department of Labor, a DOT service patrol driver, a child care worker in New Haven and a DEEP Environmental Analyst. They argue the Pandemic has created the need to sustain and expand services.
E d Leavy, President of the State Vocational Federation of Teachers, says a more progressive tax structure is necessary. He also says in 2018, more than $ 550 million was spent on corporate tax breaks that could fund all of these programs.
