BT reveals horror of losing Yankees 2000 World Series ring at Friday's home opener
BT and Sal broadcast their show live from the Hard Rock at Yankee Stadium on Friday afternoon for the Bombers’ home opener, and it almost ended in disaster for BT.
Sharing the story on Monday, BT revealed that Christos Kokkinakos at the Hard Rock let BT put on a Yankees 2000 World Series ring, only for BT to later realize that he had lost the valuable piece of memorabilia.
“My entire temperament went from top-of-the-world awesome to crash,” BT said. “I’m like ‘what do we do if we can’t find it?’ I had to plant some seeds, because that was an option right now.
“I go, ‘how much is the replica?’ he goes, ‘It’s not a replica. It’s about $15,000, and it’s part of the Steinbrenner collection.’”
BT’s day only got worse when he learned that the ring wasn’t a replica, and had no idea where it was. He had allowed friends and fans to try it on, but luckily, he eventually located the ring and returned it, avoiding disaster.
“I’m calling everybody, people from town I let put it on, and I can’t find it. Finally, I guess in haste I just put it in my bag,” BT said. “I found it, and it changed everything.
“I had a drink immediately as soon as I found it.”
