The Patriots hope to use their first loss in 83 days as motivation as they look towards the playoffs, according to quarterback Drake Maye.
During his weekly appearance on ‘WEEI Afternoons,’ Maye agreed with receiver Stefon Diggs’ postgame comments that the 35-31 loss to Buffalo Sunday, while disappointing, could be instructive for the team over the next several weeks.
“I think it could be something that we needed if we handle it the right way, if we approach it the right way, coming off the loss. It’s definitely something we could look back on and be like, ‘Man, that was good for us,” Maye said.
According to Maye, confidence in the locker and film rooms remained high even after dropping the team’s first chance at securing the AFC East title.
“We’re in the ball game and had a chance to come out here with a victory against a good opponent, a playoff team,” he said.
Maye predicts the Patriots will “practice a little better, practice a little harder” as they look to bounce back on the road against the Baltimore Ravens Sunday.
