(WWJ) – The Wayne County Prosecutor's office is now reviewing the case of a man arrested in connection with the murder of Detroit synagogue leader Samantha Woll.
Officials with the prosecutor’s office say they are reviewing a warrant for a suspect who was taken into custody Sunday after new evidence came to light over the weekend.
Woll was found stabbed to death outside her home in the Lafayette Park neighborhood the morning of Saturday, Oct. 21. Authorities have said Woll attended a wedding the night before she was found murdered.
While no details have been released regarding the suspect’s identity, Detroit Police Chief James White said Monday he was one of several people being investigated for the murder.
Early last month a suspect was released 48 hours after being arrested and questioned in connection with her death.
The suspect arrested over the weekend was reportedly seen near Woll’s home the night she was killed, according to The Detroit News.
Woll was the president of the Isaac Agree Downtown Detroit Synagogue and had previously worked as an aide to Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin and with Attorney General Dana Nessel on her reelection campaign.
Because of her leadership role with the synagogue, some had wondered if her murder was motivated by antisemitism or sparked by the Israel-Hamas war that began two weeks prior to her death. White has said multiple times no evidence has surfaced suggesting antisemitism played a role in the killing.
