(WWJ) - A Clinton Township man is facing murder charges after authorities say he killed his child's mother.

23-year-old Jaion Barnes, of Clinton Township, is accused of fatally shooting his child's mother, according to a press release from the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.

Authorities said Barnes shot the victim on Jan. 15 when he went to the Peachtree Apartments in Clinton Township during "a child exchange of their two-year-old."

Barnes allegedly left the scene following the murder and turned himself in to the police, the press release said.
