Double shooting on Detroit's eastside leaves 1 dead, 1 in critical condition

DETROIT (WWJ) - One man is dead and another was seriously injured another after gunfire erupted at a home on Detroit's east side early Wednesday morning, officials said.

According to the Detroit Police Department, officers responded to the 14900 block of Lappin, near Hayes and Seven Mile in the 9th Precinct area, just before 12:30 a.m. on December 20 on reports of shots fired with two victims.

When police arrived, they found two men had sustained gunshot wounds with one pronounced deceased at the scene. The second victim was rushed to a local hospital where he was last listed in critical condition, the department added.

Detectives remained at the home for nearly six hours as they processed the scene for evidence. At this time, police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

There has been no word on if a suspect or suspects have been identified.
