Drug Task Force makes multiple arrests around St. Clair County

(WWJ) - Multiple arrests have been made by the St. Clair County Drug Task Force.

"Each case requires many man hours of thorough investigation from members of the Drug Task Force," the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office said in a written statement. "Members work tirelessly to get drugs off the street and bring dealers to justice."

The Drug Task Force arrested one suspect on the evening of Jan. 24 following a search of their home. “Crack Cocaine which had been attempted to be destroyed, U.S. currency, packaging material, drug paraphernalia and a scale” were all found during the search, according to the written statement.

Authorities said 49-year-old David Moore, of Port Huron, has been charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Offense and Felonious Tampering with Evidence.

Moore is at the St. Clair County Detention and Intervention Center. He was arraigned on Friday. His bond has been set at $25,000.

On Jan. 25, a search warrant was executed at a home on River Road in Cottrellville. The Drug Task Force, along with the St. Clair County Special Response Team and K9 Brock, uncovered a “large quantity” of cocaine. Authorities said there were also items “indicative of a sales operation” in the home.

56-year-old George Gunter, of Marine City, was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine.

Gunter was arraigned on Jan. 26 and given a bond of $20,000/10%.

49-year-old Melanie Emerson, who authorities say owns the home, was also arraigned on Jan. 26 on charges of Maintaining a Drug House and Possession of Cocaine. Bond was set at $10,000.
