Gunman, 2 more suspects get away after shooting, carjacking, crash in Southfield

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) -- Southfield Police are looking for three suspects involved in an early morning shooting and carjacking.

According to investigators, a 22-year-old Southfield man was approached by a suspect armed with a long gun outside the Regal Towers apartments on Franklin Rd. near 11 Mile Rd., just after 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Multiple shots were fired, the victim was wounded in the leg, and the gunman took off with two other suspects in the victim's vehicle.

The suspects crashed the car in the parking lot, and then got out and fled on foot, police said.

A K9 team was brought in to help search the area, but the suspects were able to get away. Police did find multiple shell casings at the scene.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
