DETROIT (WWJ)-- It's a big, and very loud weekend in Downtown Detroit as the 35th Grand Prix event in the city’s history returns to the 1.7-mile, nine-turn circuit that runs along the beautiful Detroit Riverwalk.
The event runs May 30-June 1, 2025.
Here's what to know about the 2025 Detroit Grand Prix:
FREE PRIX DAY:
Gates opened at 8 a.m. Friday, giving fans the opportunity to watch all three racing series competing at the Grand Prix, beginning with the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Friday. The NTT INDYCAR SERIES will host its opening practice session in advance of the Chevrolet INDYCAR Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon while the rising stars of INDY NXT by Firestone will also see their first action with Friday practice on the technical 1.7-mile, nine-turn street circuit. Fans will be able to meet the stars of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES during the all-driver autograph session in the GM Renaissance Center Wintergarden from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
CRUISE NIGHT FRIDAY:
A special event Friday night: It's the first ever Cruise Night, with FREE access for fans on the Grand Prix track along Jefferson Avenue in Downtown Detroit to enjoy the cruisin’ car show. Over 100 classic cars, customized rides, hot rods, muscle cars, exotics and more will enter the track at Turn 2 and do a slow parade lap of the circuit.
All of the Cruise Night vehicles will then park on the actual race circuit along Jefferson Ave. and remain on display for fans to see until approximately 8:30 pm. The free, family-focused event will bring a cruisin’ close to the opening day of action at the Grand Prix.
MORE FAN ACTIVITIES:
Beyond the great racing, fans will also enjoy a variety of entertainment options and family-friendly activities throughout the Detroit Grand Prix weekend. More than half of the event’s footprint will be open and accessible for fans all weekend long. The Riverwalk will be open for visitors to explore, while interactive games, delicious food, live music and other attractions will be available at Hart Plaza, Jefferson Avenue, and Woodward Avenue leading to Campus Martius Park and Cadillac Square.
Located on Woodward Avenue between Spirit Plaza and Campus Martius, the Meijer Fan Zone is the go-to spot for family fun, free ice cream and interactive sports games like football toss, speed pitch and basketball. Fans can snap photos with their favorite Detroit sports team displays and meet legendary local athletes as they sign autographs on Saturday and Sunday. Plus, the Michigan Science Center joins the fun in 2025 with hands-on car-building and racing relays.
The fan activation zones will be open to the public throughout race weekend, beginning on Friday, May 30, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., continuing Saturday, May 31, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and concluding on Sunday, June 1, with hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For the race itself, Saturday and Sunday, there are new viewing options and entertainment packages, with tickets available for purchase at www.DetroitGP.com/Tickets or through the event’s Ticket Hotline at 888-811-PRIX (7749).
TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING:
You'll want to have a plan before you head downtown, whether it be Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
The only parking structure within the venue available for public parking is the Franklin Garage, located between Franklin Street and Woodbridge. Parking spaces are limited and sold in advance only. A venue admission ticket purchase is required to purchase a parking pass. [The following parking structures within the venue are NOT open for paid public parking during the event weekend: Millender Garage, Center Garage, Port Atwater Garage, Beaubien Garage, and River East Garage.]
There are many surface lots and alternate parking structures located within the Downtown Detroit area available for event parking as well as public transportation options.

ENTERTAINMENT:
The Saturday night concerts at the 2025 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear will turbocharge the crowd in Cadillac Square and Campus Martius Park in Downtown Detroit with two powerhouse electronic dance music concerts on May 31. Once the Saturday racing action takes the checkered flag on the Streets of Downtown Detroit, the Cadillac Square Entertainment Stage presented by Priority will light up with performances from two of today's top EDM stars, powered by the Downtown Detroit Partnership. EVAN GIIA will get the party started when she takes the stage at 6:15 pm ET before electronic music sensation GRYFFIN rocks the Saturday night crowd in the Motor City. GRAND MARSHALS:
The Detroit Grand Prix welcomes Grand Marshals on both Saturday and Sunday race days in the Motor City. Olympic medalist and University of Michigan national championship gymnastics star, Paul Juda, will serve as Grand Marshal on Saturday, May 31 for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race – the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic. Juda recently helped the Michigan Wolverines claim their seventh national championship in gymnastics. He also made national headlines, not only for his athletic achievements, but also for his heartwarming marriage proposal to fellow University of Michigan gymnast Reyna Guggino following the Wolverines' national championship victory on April 19. Detroit Lions President and Chief Executive Officer Rod Wood will serve as Grand Marshal for Sunday, June 1. As the leading executive on one of the most popular and successful teams in the National Football League (NFL), Wood will participate in pre-race activities leading up to the final race of the three-day Grand Prix weekend in the Motor City – the Chevrolet INDYCAR Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon.
