(WWJ) — Two people have been rescued from frigid waters in Northern Michigan.
Officials with the U.S. Coast Guard say Sector Detroit received a report of two people in the water holding onto ice in the Black River in Alcona County, near Lake Huron.
An ice rescue team from Port Huron responded and launched the ice skiff. The team was able to rescue the two people, according to the Coast Guard.
Coast Guard officials did not release any information about the victims.
It was not clear how they became stranded in the water, but officials have been warning against going on the ice, as it becomes more and more unsafe with warming temperatures.
