DETROIT (WWJ) - One Detroit landmark is ready for the Lions’ first postseason game at Ford Field.
Jan. 14 will see the Lions host former quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams, and the Spirit of Detroit is already showing its support for the team.
This is the first time the city of Detroit will host a playoff game since 1957. The Lions last hosted a playoff game in 1993 when they played at the Silverdome in Pontiac.
The Spirit of Detroit, located in front of the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center near Hart Plaza, has jerseys for the Lions, Tigers, Red Wings and Pistons.
WWJ's Charlie Langton went downtown to check out the statue's new look and reported that there were people from all over that were taking pictures.
"This is unbelievable. Welcome to Detroit. They put a jersey on a statue that's like 17 feet tall. This is the best city in America," a tourist from Chicago told Langton.
The Lions, who clinched the NFC North division, are having one of their best seasons in years, and fans are hoping that good luck will continue into the postseason.
The Lions will take on the Rams at 8 p.m. on Sunday at Ford Field.
