Man on the run after allegedly opening fire over a McDonald's order

A trip to McDonald’s turned deadly for a Houston attorney last week and authorities are now looking for a suspect who allegedly shot him, according to the Houston Police Department.

Murder charges have been filed against the suspect, identified as 57-year-old Anthony Martin Landry. Police had a prior booking photo of the suspect on file.

Authorities said an initial investigation indicated Landry was involved in a verbal disagreement with the victim, 46-year-old Jeffrey Limmer, before he fired at around 6 p.m. last Saturday.

KTRK reported that Landry was upset about his McDonald’s order and was demanding a refund. Citing an investigation by the Houston Police Department, the outlet said Limmer tried to calm Landry down. However, this effort resulted in the two men getting into an argument outside the restaurant. Landry retrieved a gun and allegedly shot Limmer.

Authorities arrived at the 8147 Katy Freeway McDonald’s location to find the victim unresponsive, with multiple gunshot wounds, per a report from HPD Homicide Division Detectives H. Martinez and S. Chettrey.

“Jeffrey Wayne Limmer, affectionately known as Jeff, a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, departed from this world on Saturday, the 4th of May 2024, in Houston, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and a profound faith,” said an obituary for Limmer from Geo H. Lewis & Sons Funeral Directors.

It said that he was a graduate of Memorial High School, where he was a varsity quarterback and an outfielder for the Memorial Mustangs. Limmer also attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2000, and the South Texas College of Law. He followed in his father’s footsteps to become a personal injury attorney at Lewis Brisbois Law Firm.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced Limmer deceased at the scene. Landry allegedly fled in an early 2000s blue Ford pickup truck. An investigation into the incident led police to charge Landry with murder Wednesday.

He is now at large.

“Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Anthony Martin Landry or in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS,” said police.
