The Saints continue to adjust their roster as New Orleans signed veteran running back Ty Montgomery Friday.
The former third round pick of the Green Bay Packers was drafted in 2015 out of Stanford and converted to running back from wide receiver. Montgomery spent three seasons with the Packers, then after that one season with the Baltimore Ravens and one with the New York Jets.
His best season came in 2016. That year he racked up 457 yards rushing on 77 attempts with in three touchdowns.
WWL Radio analyst and former Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert likes the move.
"He gives the Saints veteran depth at the position, and he's been with good organizations that know what it takes to win," Hebert said. "That's solid insurance if something should happen to Alvin Kamara."
In order to make room for Montgomery, the Saints released defensive lineman Mitchell Loewen.
