All SEC sports suspended

Amid the risks surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, the Southeastern Conference has decided to suspend the play of all sporting events until the end of the month:

ALERT 2: Based on the latest developments and the continued spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Southeastern Conference today announced the suspension of regular season competition for teams in all sports on SEC campuses, as well SEC championship events, until March 30.

That means no SEC basketball tournament, which was underway in Nashville, Tennessee. LSU was scheduled to play on Friday in the quarterfinals. The Tigers earned the No. 3 seed after finishing 21-10 and 12-6 in conference play.

The LSU baseball team was about to leave for Oxford, Mississippi before they got the news. Players grabbed their bags off the team bus and were told the news. The Bayou Bengals are 12-5 after getting a 4-1 win over South Alabama last night.
