More than 40 New Orleans firefighters responded to a couch on fire early this morning.
The couch was on the 25th floor of a downtown apartment building.
"At 5:46 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was alerted to fire alarm notification from a building at 909 Gravier St.,the Strand Apartments," Captain Edwin Holmes said in a news release.
They arrived and decided to evacuate the building, pulling a second alarm at 6:04.
"The building's sprinkler system had extinguished the fire upon NOFD arrival."
Holmes says 42 fire personnel were on scene to get people out initially, then mitigate the damage and clear water to protect apartments on lower floors from water damage.
There was no immediate word how the sofa caught on fire.
