Federal authorities appear to intensifying their investigation into aspects of the Cantrell administration, according to a report in NOLA.com.
The report says FBI agents have talked to a pair of local businessmen who have made contributions to Mayor LaToya Cantrell's campaign.
Sources also say the investigation also involves Jeffrey Vappie, a New Orleans Police officer assigned to the mayor's security detail
The U.S. Attorney's office and Cantrell's lawyer both declined to comment.
