The Lafreniere Park holiday light display opens for the first time this season at 5:30 PM. Jefferson Parish Councilman Dominic Impastato told WWL TV the parish is expecting over 100,000 cars to pass through the park before the gates close for the last time December 30th.
As usual you should expect a bit of a wait to get into it, just like you would Celebration in the Oaks. Cars are usually lined up far down West Napoleon.
Impastato said it’s worth the wait.
“They talk about the line but they are excited to be in the line because they know what is coming,” said Impastato. “This is a passion . That is why it continues to grow and grow and grow for going on 30 years now.”
The Councilman said the big draw this year is the Copeland’s Racing Boat.
The Christmas lights display is the outgrowth of the original Copeland Christmas lights display out in Metairie that they donated. It became the catalyst for what is now the Lafreniere Park display.
