Police in New Orleans are investigating a homicide outside the French Quarter. It happened Sunday night in the 5200 block of North Rampart Street.
“At around 9:39 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 19-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene,” said an NOPD report.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person or people responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.
No additional details are available at this time.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
