NOPD search for Lake Charles man believed to be responsible for a shooting in New Orleans


New Orleans police search for a Lake Charles man they believe is responsible for a shooting in downtown New Orleans.

According to police, the investigation led them to identify 19-year-old Joshua Stewart in the September 26 shooting in the 100 block of Camp Street.

A police report says, “Through investigation, NOPD Eighth District detectives have positively identified Stewart as the suspected perpetrator in this incident. Stewart is wanted on charges of aggravated battery and illegal discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence.”

Police believe Stewart is a Lake Charles evacuee and may have relocated back to the Lake Charles area.
