A pedestrian, walking on I-10 was struck by an 18-wheeler Thursday near the Louisiana-Mississippi state line in a hit and run crash.
Authorities in St. Tammany Parish say Department of Transportation workers found the injured man on the shoulder of I-10 westbound.
Authorities believe the man was there for hours before being discovered.
St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 1 says I-10 was closed so that the man could be airlifted to the hospital by Ochsner Flight Care. His condition is unknown at this time.
State troopers are searching for the driver of the 18-wheeler who they believe did not know he had hit someone.
