In Florida, two people have been charged after a mother allegedly tried to hire a hitman off the internet to kill her 3-year-old son, court documents show.
According to documents obtained by NBC6, Jazmin Paez, 18, was arrested in July after submitting a request on rentahitman.com to kill her son.
Paez allegedly was trying to hire the assassin and submitted an address and a picture of her son to the website, which is known for being a parody site, an arrest affidavit says, the New York Post reported.
The affidavit also says that Paez provided a safe word for the contracted killer if they took the job. The safe word was “Put me in coach.”
After receiving the request from Paez, the owner of the website contacted the Miami-Dade Police Department, which then launched an investigation into the mother.
According to the affidavit, Paez later had a discussion with a potential hitman, who was actually a police officer. Paez allegedly agreed to pay the officer $3,000 for the job, NBC News.
Paez has been charged with first-degree solicitation of murder and unlawful use of a communications device, the affidavit says.
On Monday, the case gained another wrinkle, as Gamaliel Soza, 18, was also arrested and accused of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and unlawful use of a communications device.
Police have alleged that Soza and Paez were in contact with one another about the potential plan to kill the toddler, according to the affidavit.
“The kid is the problem. I hope you see that all I ever wanted, was to free you. I told you about the kid. You won’t do anything,” the affidavit says Soza wrote.
In another text between the two, Soza allegedly wrote, “You do it, and I’ll think about coming back.”
Police have shared that the boy has been placed in the custody of relatives, and the Florida Department of Children and Families is overseeing the case.
