CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — British Airways is suing the city of Chicago after three of its B-787s were allegedly damaged at O’Hare International Airport.

The lawsuit claimed debris was left on a runway at O'Hare between Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, during the expansion of Terminal 5.

Three British Airways aircraft ingested the debris into their engines, causing $3.2 million in repairs.

The airline accused the city of negligence, saying it violated its agreement at the airport by not properly inspecting the runways.

The lawsuit was filed at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and is seeking reimbursement for repairs as well as damages and attorney fees, noting several flights were also canceled.
