
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago authorities are looking into what caused a South Side fire that left a 43-year-old man Sunday night.
Police and firefighters responded to reports of a residential fire around just before midnight on Sunday near 89th Street and South Essex Avenue.
Flames were seen coming from the garage behind the house. While conducting a search of the home, crews found the man unresponsive in the garage.
He was pronounced dead on scene.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Gilbert Sims.
