It's always a great moment to hear your song on the radio for the first time and our own Rob Stone is now part of that exclusive club.
He sat down with Cadillac Jack for his new music Spotlight segment Wednesday to talk about his song "Firework Girl".
Half of the Rob & Holly show, Rob Stone, needed a fun song. All of his early stuff focused around heartache and breakups -- so he got to thinking about his favorite things.
His crew of friends have a blast at Sand Lake in Michigan every year for the fourth of July weekend. So those sizzling days and nights gave him the inspiration for "Firework Girl".
It's all about, "rockin' that red, white and blue," said Stone.
Early on, he played the song at Entercom's MusicTown studio and it took off from there. He landed gigs opening for Austin Burke, Jameson Rodgers and LoCash on their Detroit tour stops.
Stone described the origin and progression of the song as, "born in Detroit and produced in Nashville."
An official music video is in the works this summer and we'll post it right here when it's ready so stay tuned!
