Out of everyone that’s up for an ACM Award this year, Chris Young has the best chance of taking one home. With a whopping seven nominations, Young has the opportunity to hear his name called quite often.

Young joined Audacy’s Josh, Rachael, and Grunwald at the 2022 ACM Awards and had an extremely relatable response when asked how it felt being the most nominated artist this year. “I still don’t know what I’m supposed to say other than I’m excited!” Young exclaimed. “I feel like I’ve said the word ‘excited’ about 8,000 times today.”
The timing of Young being the most nominated artist happened at a funny moment as he strayed away from his usual routine. Young normally watches the announcement of the ACM nominees, but had other obligations at the time of the announcements this year. When he spoke to his publicist afterwards, she asked him if he saw the nominations yet. After he found out about that he was the most nominated artist this year, his publicist told him, “now we’re adding more interviews in the afternoon!”
With a total of seven nominations, Young revealed that the number holds special meaning for him. “The cool thing is,” he says, “it’s my lucky number, it’s on the seventh, it’s the 57th (awards show).” When asked if he often thinks about that kind of thing, Young replied, “well I know what three sevens on a slot machine means in Vegas, it means you won something so I’ve got my fingers crossed!”

Speaking of being in Vegas, Young also shared a great story about the last time he was in town. Both himself and Luke Bryan were in Vegas for a private event and decided to hit the casino together. “Luke was destroying the table,” he recalled. “He had a big ol’ stack of chips.”
Young ended up crossing paths with Bryan between interviews on radio row at the ACMs and asked him if he wanted to have a repeat experience. “He goes, ‘no I pretty much gave all that back this time so far!’”
