Christina Applegate was visibly emotional with the reception she got onstage at the 2023 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles Jan. 15.

Applegate made her way to the podium to present awards for outstanding supporting actress and outstanding lead actress in a comedy series. She utilized a cane and the help of the evening’s host, Anthony Anderson to make it onstage.

Applegate, who publicly disclosed a multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2021, was greeted by a standing ovation. She was moved and came ready with some jokes to lighten the emotional mood.

“Thank you so much! Oh my God! You’re totally shaming me and [and my] disability by standing up,” she remarked. “Body not by Ozempic,” the actor added, in reference to the weight loss drug.

“Some of you may know me as Kelly Bundy from ‘Married with Children,’” she said, then made note of past roles in her career. “We don’t have to applaud every time I do something,” she added after another large applause break.

While discussing her first onscreen appearance in a 1972 episode of ‘Days of Our Lives,’ Applegate said, “I’m going to cry more than I’ve been crying.”

Applegate presented Quinta Brunson with outstanding lead actress in a comedy series, and Ayo Edibiri with outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series.
