PICS: Safari-like experience is coming to Saint Louis Zoo's new 425-acre North Campus

SPANISH LAKE, Mo. (KYKY) - The Saint Louis Zoo invited our sister station, KMOX out to tour their North Campus facility in Spanish Lake.
The 425-acre complex is four times the size of the Zoo campus in Forest Park. The property has a multitude of wildlife habitats, include 13 lakes and ponds, woodlands and rolling grasslands.
The zoo says its North Campus will have the first large-scale safari type experience that is located within a major metropolitan area. It will also house a conservation and animal science center.
St. Louis County residents will receive free admission to the new campus, others will pay an admission fee.
The North Campus is estimated to open in 2025 or 2026.
