After more than 25 years, Microsoft‘s Internet Explorer is coming to an end.
The pioneering web browser, which steadily grew out of favor among consumers over the years, will be retired in place of Microsoft Edge on June 15, 2022, the company announced yesterday.
“We are announcing that the future of Internet Explorer on Windows 10 is in Microsoft Edge. The Internet Explorer 11 desktop application will be retired and go out of support on June 15, 2022, for certain versions of Windows 10,” the company’s Sean Lyndersay said in a statement.
Microsoft Edge first appeared in 2015, and the company has been encouraging businesses to stop using the browser in favor of Edge ever since.
