MTV Turns 40 And More 'EntertainMinutes' for Monday 8-2

MTV, Music Television, celebrated its 40th anniversary yesterday. It premiered at midnight, August 1, 1981. So... How did MTV celebrate this 40th anniversary milestone? By doing NOTHING. They ran "Ridiculousness" all day. MTV2 was even old "Fear Factor" and "Key and Peele" episodes. But"Rolling Stone" DID celebrate with a list of the greatest music videos of all time, and the Top Three are: "Formation" by Beyoncé . . . "Hurt" by Johnny Cash . . . and "Vogue" by Madonna.

Nelly and longtime girlfriend Shantel Jackson have announced that they have SPLIT but will remain "close friends".

MATT DAMON is retiring a gay slur after his daughter put him in check, and wrote an essay on why it's dangerous.  Matt says he's used the word since he was a kid, but it had a "different application."

Buzzfeed has a list of actors who played their parents on-screen that includes: Dwayne Johnson playing his dad in a "That 70's Show" episode . . . O'Shea Jackson Jr. playing his dad Ice Cube in "Straight Outta Compton" . . . and Meryl Streep's daughter playing the younger version of her character in "Evening".

BOB ODENKIRK issued a health update on Twitter. He said, "I had a small heart attack. But I'm going to be okay thanks to [the] doctors who knew how to fix the blockage without surgery . . . I'm going to take a beat to recover but I'll be back soon."

LENNY KRAVITZ wished JASON MAMOA a happy birthday, and said he's "proud to call him his brother." Jason turned 42 yesterday.

Paramount is delaying the theatrical release of "Clifford the Big Red Dog" due to Delta COVID-19 variant concerns. A new date hasn't been announced.
In the meantime, "Jungle Cruise" won the Box Office with $34 million in the U.S. this weekend. It also earned $30 million from Disney+.

Last week, the Senate officially announced the passage of a resolution that will make August 11th "Hip-Hop Celebration Day."

In a new poll, KEN JENNINGS is the people's favorite to be the permanent new host of "Jeopardy!". Producer Mike Richards came in second, followed by LeVar Burton.
